What the Sun Has Seen explores the emotional impact of climate change, shifting the focus from a purely scientific perspective to the human experience. Delving into themes of isolation, sadness, and anxiety, this project serves as a compelling call to action, urging viewers to consider the lasting impact we have on the environment.
The posters were inspired by the animated video created by Agnieszka Polska titled The New Sun.
Main Character: The Sun
The Sun is an all seeing power who watches over planet Earth. Everyday she watches over us and observes how humans behave and interact with the planet she graces us with. She quickly realizes that the relationship between earth and humans is not symbiotic and she starts to belittle us in a comedic way. Even though she is disappointed in our behaviors, she feels empathy for us and hopes that we change our ways.
The Sun understands the concept of love, and feels that emotion strongly. She watches how the climate is changing and knows that those changes will be irreversible if humans do not change their behaviors immediately.
The Sun may be an all seeing figure, but she is relatable in many ways, She feels so much sadness and despair for the environment, yet understands that human behavior is a major factor in climate change. Just like the sun, many of us feel immense anxiety about the uncertainty of our planet’s future.

Inspiration
Polska’s video is the main source of inspiration for this project. Her characterization of the Sun was the key to humanizing the climate change crisis.
The New Sun by Agnieszka Polska
The intermingling angles, lines, and circles remind me of soviet grid systems- and inspired my type structure.
Wassily Kandinsky
During the development of this project, I experimented with ink paintings. I would use anything as a brush- sticks, leaves, sponges, spray bottles, etc to develop new textures and type structures that I could implement into my process.
